My challenge this week was in limiting the number of photos I chose to illustrate, “Textures“. Luckily the rain held off and I was able to take them all this morning around my home.
Eucalyptus tree bark
Grey Box tree bark
Diosma leaves
Lamb’s Ear leaf
Elkhorn leaf
Old Lime
Moss
Mud Dauber Wasp nest
Old Pomegranate
Rotting wood pulp
Sawdust
Probably though the texture I find most fascinating is on a Praying Mantis egg case, it looks and feels a bit like polystyrene.

I’m a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, auntie and friend. I prefer to be outside and am interested in photography, nature and different cultures. I believe everything on this earth has a right to be here but some things and some people would be happiest if their space was far away from mine. (Flies and biting bugs take note!) I don’t like housework and think dust is Nature’s way of saying, “This is my space, I was here first.”

An excellent collection of textures. This is how it’s done.
Nice pictures!
Thank you.
Gosh how unusual that egg case close up is! Wonderful images – what is the yellow bubbly one further up?
The yellow one is the skin of an old Lime, I was expecting to see at least a couple of green ones on the tree but there were none, luckily the old, yellow one was nearby on the ground. They have a lovely knobbly texture.
It looks very different so close up!
lambs ear, my favourite, so soft ans silky.
Yes, they just beg to be stroked.
I like your pictures.
And yes: it’s too curious the egg case of the mantis.
I have one in a container now hoping I’ll see the little ones emerge.
Very beautiful and different textures.
Like them very much.
Best regards…
Thanks, nature certainly provides us with a great variety.
Gorgeous texture.
Thanks, there are so many about it’s difficult to choose what to post.
They are stunning as a set.
I actually started with probably twice as many but whittled it down and thought the only way to post them was as a tiled mosaic. Glad you liked it.
I did. Just lovely.
