It’s winter here in South Australia and cold so there aren’t many insects about, few insects means few of their predators. There are some lizards I know I can find because I’ve discovered their refuges. When the sun warms the ground there are hundreds of little Skinks around here but I don’t know where they go when it’s cold.
As I snapped away at a wasp which was at the bottom of the nest I was unaware of this one near the top, I’m glad my focus moved to it before it went into attack mode.
Using my macro lens meant I had only a narrow band clearly in focus.
For a short period each morning I’ve been delighted to see the light shining through these leaves, leaves which won’t be on the vine much longer. I think they’re perfect for the theme, Â “evanescent” – fleeting, vanishing, transient.
