Unwelcome house visitor

It’s winter here in South Australia and cold so there aren’t many insects about, few insects means few of their predators. There are some lizards I know I can find because I’ve discovered their refuges. When the sun warms the ground there are hundreds of little Skinks around here but I don’t know where they go when it’s cold.

Macro Moment: Moss

WPC: Transient

I often see planes flying over and was lucky enough to spot this one this afternoon, perfect for “Transient“, I think.

or was the theme, “Drifter”?

WPC: Focus

As I snapped away at a wasp which was at the bottom of the nest I was unaware of this one near the top, I’m glad my focus moved to it before it went into attack mode.

Using my macro lens meant I had only a narrow band clearly in focus.

Black and White is the suggestion for this Macro Moments challenge but I can’t bear to remove all the colour.

Friend

When you’re old, deaf and almost blind it’s great to have a friend to lead the way.

WPC: Evanescent

For a short period each morning I’ve been delighted to see the light shining through these leaves, leaves which won’t be on the vine much longer. I think they’re perfect for the theme,  “evanescent” – fleeting, vanishing, transient.

 

Wildlife Visitors – May 2017

We’ve had our own house visitors this month and I haven’t been out and about very often so this isn’t a true indication of the wildlife about.
