Macro Moments: Week 33

I had a very cooperative subject for this week’s challenge, a Wanderer Butterfly pupa with lovely glistening gold trim.

I have discovered that even if I have my Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ80 set to iA (intelligent auto) I can still find out the settings used. The shot was taken at f/3.3, 1/320, ISO 80, focal length 4mm. I might be misunderstanding the focal length but it seems to me that must be the depth of field.

I have lightened the photo a bit and also applied some unsharp mask using an old version of Photoshop Elements.

I’m a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, auntie and friend. I prefer to be outside and am interested in photography, nature and different cultures. I believe everything on this earth has a right to be here but some things and some people would be happiest if their space was far away from mine. (Flies and biting bugs take note!) I don’t like housework and think dust is Nature’s way of saying, “This is my space, I was here first.”

  1. Now that’s what I like wildlife that doesn’t move. I once went to s lecture on wildlife photography and the speaker said “if they won’t stop moving nail them down!” He was a very funny bloke.

  2. They say the Monarch was named for its color – early Europeans named it after King William, Prince of Orange. But I like the idea of the golden crown on the chrysalis. Nice shot.

So, what do you think?
