Macro Moments: Week 16

My “Macro Moment” photo this week is of a native Blue-banded Bee at a Salvia flower.

Crop from an image taken with my Panasonic Lumix, TZ-60 a nice little “point and shoot” with a Leica lens.

I’m a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, auntie and friend. I prefer to be outside and am interested in photography, nature and different cultures. I believe everything on this earth has a right to be here but some things and some people would be happiest if their space was far away from mine. (Flies and biting bugs take note!) I don’t like housework and think dust is Nature’s way of saying, “This is my space, I was here first.”

      1. When I first saw it I thought the little things on its back were ticks but later decided, since they were symmetrical, that they must be something to do with the wings.

      1. I’m pretty sure the mouth-sucking part is called a proboscis. Also, I love your photo! They dart so quickly about that they are difficult to photograph. Such a pleasure when they are in the garden.

    1. It’s the second one of those cameras I’ve had. I was terribly disappointed when the first one just refused to open, tried everything but it seems it’s a common fault. I took a chance and bought another and haven’t been disappointed this time.

So, what do you think?
