For my contribution this week to the Emotography Showcase  I’ve decided to go with this photo taken yesterday. I went to see the work being done at the Hahndorf Sculpture Symposium and loved the way Yoshin Ogata was gently feeling the surface of his work. I’m sure he was satisfied with what he’d achieved in just a few weeks.

I’m a sister, wife, mother, grandmother, auntie and friend. I prefer to be outside and am interested in photography, nature and different cultures. I believe everything on this earth has a right to be here but some things and some people would be happiest if their space was far away from mine. (Flies and biting bugs take note!) I don’t like housework and think dust is Nature’s way of saying, “This is my space, I was here first.”

  1. I’m not very “up” in sculpture, and while I can see the art and the work that must have gone into it, can you tell me if it represents something specific?

    1. I really don’t know but it’s going to be placed in a town that has an old Mill that was powered by a water wheel so maybe it’s linked to that.

    1. You’re right it’s massive and while I was there I watched them moving a much smaller one with a very large crane. Getting to various pieces to their final locations must be an expensive operation they’re going to a variety of places and will be part of the Sculpture Trail.

    1. Thank you. I wondered about the “crack” across the piece but then discovered the sculpture was made from two separate lumps of granite so he incorporated it as a feature…. I think. He has a couple more days to finish the work.

So, what do you think?
